Graduate Research
Through research higher degree candidature our students are involved in a wide range of research projects covering such diverse areas as ocean acidification, climate and fisheries impacts on marine resources, and climate change impacts and modelling, to name but a few.
IMAS brings to our research students the benefit of strong local, national and international research partnerships and relationships. We are directly involved with national and international programs of the:
- Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC)
- Tasmanian Partnership in Advanced Computing (TPAC)
- The Intergrated Marine Observing System (IMOS)
In partnership with CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) we run the highly successful CSIRO-UTAS PhD Program in Quantitative Marine Science (QMS). Many of our candidates are co-supervised by scientists from CMAR, ACECRC and the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) and benefit from access to the facilities and resources of these organisations.
IMAS is recruiting HDR students for 2011. There are two programs offered through IMAS:
- IMAS Higher Degree Research Program (Masters and PhD)
- CSIRO-UTAS PhD Program in Quantitative Marine Science (PhD only)
In both programs there is an exciting set of projects to choose from across a wide range of disciplines. Generous scholarships are also available.
