The latest edition of the University’s Research to Reality is devoted to research being undertaken in marine and Antarctic studies, covered by IMAS and related entities, and has a number of articles which feature IMAS staff and their research activities.

IMAS Scientists successful in 2010 ARC Grants

IMAS scientists Profs Johnson and Hallegraeff and Associate Professor Trull are to be congratulated for being awarded Australian Research Council Discovery and Linkage Grants for 2010 which were announced on 26 October 2009.

PhD Scholarship - representing Antarctic animals to the public

A PhD scholarship is offered to undertake a research project investigating the way in which Antarctic animals are represented to the public through popular scientific and other non-fiction texts. Depending on the candidate’s background and interests, genres analysed may include expository science books, children’s animal books, magazine articles, television documentaries, museum and zoo exhibits, and websites.

Rock Lobster Fishery Report

A report on the East Coast Tasmanian Rock Lobster Fishery : Vulnerability to climate change impacts and adaptation response options, which was undertaken by TAFI and funded by the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, has recently been completed.

ACE CRC funded for further 5 years

Tasmania’s future in cutting-edge climate science research has been secured with the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC) receiving funding from the Australian Government for a further five years.
