Marine and Antarctic Ecosystems
The Marine and Antarctic Ecosystem Program is a diverse and wide-reaching program that investigates processes and linkages in oceanic systems ranging from temperate to polar regions. The program covers all trophic levels, from phytoplankton to top predators, and integrates the influence of physical factors such as ocean currents and sea-ice on how these organisms perform and survive. The group is fundamentally multi-disciplinary, drawing on spatial ecology (though animal tracking and ship based surveys), chemical ecology (for example stable isotope and signature fatty acid analysis), biological oceanography, toxicology, and behavioural ecology.
