Size

  • Female: 1.68 - 2.00 mm
  • Male: 1.42 - 1.75 mm

Distinguishing characters

  • Proportional length of urosome somites and caudal rami
  • Female genital somite overlaps anal somite at dorsal margin
  • Male with long caudal rami compared to other male Corycaeus apart from C. speciosus which has narrower points on prosome

Male

  • Cephalosome fused with 1st pedigerous somite
  • Prosome points extend to middle of genital somite
  • Genital somite1.5 times as long as wide
  • Anal somite little wider at proximal than distal margin
  • Anal somite 2 times as long as wide at the distal margin
  • Caudal rami almost equals length of genital somite
  • Caudal rami 8 times as long as wide

Female

  • Cephalosome separate from 1st pedigerous somite
  • Prosome 2 times as long as urosome
  • Prosome points extend to distal magin of genital somite
  • Genital somite overlaps anal somite at dorsal margin
  • Anal somite little wider at proximal than the distal margin
  • Caudal rami 0.5 ¨C 0.8 times as long as rest of urosome
  • Caudal rami 6 times as long as wide

  • Indo-Pacific region and Southern Africa

Ecology

  • Visual predators using raptorial appendages to capture small prey
  • Little is known about the ecology of this species
