This project explores a range of emerging issues in salmon aquaculture. In 2021, we will continue to expand our information database on aquaculture management and environmental interactions.
Our major task is the delivery of a publicly available literature review series of ecological effects of aquaculture. The key topics for review that are currently being compiled include:
- soft sediment
- water column, and
- marine mammal interactions.
Our other research priorities for 2021 include:
- Communication of team research through the Salmon Interactions Team website, government, industry and community-based forums, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Examining approaches for informing the community about aquaculture planning and development.
- Characterising the functional responses of reef and seagrass habitats through surveys and biochemical indicators.
